Meet The Dog Training Team
Nathan is the senior behaviourist and founder of The Dog Trainers. For the last 13 years, Nathan and his team have helped 5000+ dogs to be calmer and more confident in the human world.
Our team are highly accredited, including with regulatory bodies ABTC and UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter. Our main goal is to strengthen the dog-human relationship, using force free, ethical methods and help dogs and humans coexist.
We have highly qualified Canine Behaviourists with natural abilities to communicate with dogs and degree level qualifications in related fields. We also have qualified and accredited dog trainers who have amazing knowledge and skill, that can overcome most puppy and training issues, quickly and easily.
Our team take on and successfully rehabilitate the most difficult of dogs using kind methods that can be enjoyed by both the dogs in training and their guardians.
Our Founder, Nathan Leighton, is a renowned dog trainer and behaviourist who has spoke in worldwide at seminars with hundreds of in attendance, from across the UK and further afield.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I miss a class?
If you miss a class for any reason, we encourage you to catch up by watching the tutorial videos available on the 'My Account' page on our website. Unfortunately, we cannot move you to another course or session due to the limited number of spaces and the structure of the courses.
Can I get a refund if I cancel my booking?
Yes, you can cancel and receive a full refund up to 7 days before the first class starts. If you cancel within 7 days of the first class, we will try to resell your space and refund you if we are successful. No refunds are available once the course has started, as we cannot resell a place partway through a course.
Will photos or videos be taken during classes?
We may take photos and videos during classes for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be included, please inform your trainer.
Where are the classes
Our puppy classes are Monday nights with, 6pm, 7pm and 8pm sessions.
The classes are held at:
Daverson Hall, Elmwood Ave, Newcastle upon Tyne NE13 6PX
Please note that we do not run classes on bank holidays and close for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years.
Can my children come to the class with me?
While family involvement is great, we ask that children under 8 do not attend. All children must be supervised and not disrupt the class. Please be mindful of other dogs that may be nervous around children.
Are class dates and times fixed?
Dates and times are subject to change and exclude bank holidays and the 2-week Christmas period. In case of a lockdown, classes will be postponed until restrictions are lifted.
What if my dog isn't suitable for a class environment?
Some dogs may not be suitable for a class environment, these include dogs that bark and lunge at other dogs who are too anxious to eat, are visibly overwhelmed during class or are generally disruptive to the class.
Although we will try to accommodate the needs of all dogs in attendance with the use of barriers and separate areas, there may be occasions where you are asked to leave and book 1:1 sessions in order to rectify your dog's issues, which will be at extra cost.
Most of our training involves treats being used to motivate your dog, please let us know prior to the class starting if this will be an issue for you or your dog and if they have any food allergies.
